Regular Season Round 18: AZS Pol.Cz-wa - Mickiewicz 73-69

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Mickiewicz (6-12) lost to tenth ranked AZS Pol.Cz-wa (4-14) in Czestochowa 69-73 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-14. But Mickiewicz won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS Pol.Cz-wa made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Mickiewicz turnovers. Mickiewicz was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Marcin Bluma (201-89) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Tomasz Nogalski (192-79) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four AZS Pol.Cz-wa players scored in double figures. Guard Mateusz Jagiela (190-87) replied with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Dawid Kolakowski (207-93) added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Mickiewicz. Mickiewicz's coach Sebastian Bregula let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted AZS Pol.Cz-wa maintains tenth position in Group B with 4-14 record. Loser Mickiewicz keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. AZS Pol.Cz-wa will face higher ranked Alba Chorzow (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
