Regular Season Round 20: Aishin AW - Niigata 68-72 OT

Aishin Wings (#9) forced the game against Niigata (#8) into an overtime, but lost by four points 68-72. The game took place in Anjo. But the guests from Tokyo were better at the end. Aishin Wings were ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 17-13 charge of Niigata, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 7-3. Niigata forced 22 Aishin Wings turnovers. The winners were led by forward Inoue Ai (172-90) who scored that evening 20 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) supported her with 18 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Niigata players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds by the former international center Hiromi Suwa (183-85) did not help to save the game for Aishin Wings. Guard Hitomi Takasaki (168-86) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Niigata (8-12) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Toyota B SR. Aishin Wings at the other side keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Niigata will play against league's second-placed Toyota A. in Nagoya in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aishin Wings will play on the road against Yamanashi QB (#12) and hope to get back on the winning track.
