No shocking result in a game in Edmonton, AB where first ranked Golden Bears (18-2) won against 5th ranked Bisons (5-15) 87-71 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-71. Golden Bears made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The former international guard Jordan Baker (192-91, college: Utah Valley) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Joel Friesen (193) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Golden Bears' coach Barnaby Craddock allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Andre Arruda-Welch (193) responded with 14 points and forward Wyatt Anders (201) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Golden Bears. They maintain first place with 18-2 record, which they share with Ottawa. Loser Bisons dropped to the sixth position with 15 games lost. Golden Bears will have a break next round. Bisons' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Winnipeg, MB Wesmen.
