There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Gunma (8-23) defeated at home higher ranked Niigata Albirex (20-11) 91-84 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Gunma made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Niigata Albirex turnovers. American players dominated also this game. Forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Gunma's coach Ryan Blackwell used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gunma moved-up to ninth place. Loser Niigata Albirex dropped to the third position with 11 games lost. Gunma will face again higher ranked Niigata Albirex (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
