Regular Season Round 29: St.Mary's - UPEI 93-97

There was a minor upset in Halifax, NS where second-ranked Huskies (10-7) were defeated by fourth ranked Panthers (10-7) 97-93 on Saturday. Huskies trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 30-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 93-97 at the end of the game. Panthers forced 22 Huskies turnovers. Guard Deontay Smith (183) stepped up and scored 16 points and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Ellis Ffrench (180) chipped in 13 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Panthers' coach Tim Kendrick allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Nigerian Harry Ezenibe (190-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and guard Boyd Vassell (178) scored 25 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Panthers and four Huskies players scored in double figures. Panthers moved-up to second place, which they share with St.Mary's. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
