Regular Season Round 29: Memorial - Dalhousie 66-61

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in St.John's, NL where eighth ranked Sea Hawks (2-14) beat 7th ranked Tigers (5-11) 66-61 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-11. But Tigers won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tigers 44-30 including a 39-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian power forward Vasilije Curcic (206) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Caleb Gould (196) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds. Four Sea Hawks players scored in double figures. Guard Ritchie Kanza Mata (186) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Jarred Reid (191) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sea Hawks maintains eighth place with 2-14 record. Loser Tigers keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
