Regular Season Round 20: Den Helder - Groningen 68-86

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Den Helder. First ranked Groningen faced 3rd ranked Den Helder. Guests from Groningen (20-4) defeated host Den Helder (16-7) 86-68. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Den Helder. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Den Helder managed to win fourth quarter 22-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Groningen dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Den Helder's 28. The best player for the winners was American forward Daniel Coleman (206-85, college: Minnesota) who scored 16 points. The other American import swingman Quentin Pryor (193-83, college: Morehead St.) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. Groningen's coach Ivica Skelin used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Rogier Jansen (188-84, agency: Court Side) produced 21 points and Puerto Rican-American point guard Emanuel Ubilla (188-86, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Court Side) added 12 points and 5 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the hosts. Groningen have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-4 record. Den Helder at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Groningen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Den Helder will play on the road against Leeuwarden and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
