Regular Season Round 29: Chiba Jets - Hyogo S. 80-69

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Hyogo S. (6-24) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Chiba Jets (9-24) 80-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Chiba Jets. Hyogo S. was better in third quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hyogo S. to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Hyogo S. 45-33 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hyogo S. was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Yuta Miyanga (183-81) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Carl Hall (203-89, college: Wichita St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Noriaki Dohara (178-89) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Hyogo S. players scored in double figures. Hyogo S.'s coach Danny Yoshikawa let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Chiba Jets maintains sixth place with 9-24 record. Hyogo S. lost their eighth game in a row. Hyogo S. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with 24 games lost. Chiba Jets will face higher ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (#3) in Nagoya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hyogo S. will play on the road against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
