Important game to mention about took place in Sydney. Fourth ranked Kings (10-9) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked New Zealand Breakers (8-12) 98-96 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of New Zealand Breakers. The hosts were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 22-19 run, which allowed them to win the game. Kings outrebounded New Zealand Breakers 44-33 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. New Zealand Breakers were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 20 points. American power forward Gary Wilkinson (204-82, college: Utah St.) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kerron Johnson (185-90, college: Belmont) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. Five Kings and four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. Kings maintains fourth place with 10-9 record. Defending champion New Zealand Breakers keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Kings will play against bottom-ranked Wollongong Hawks (#8) in Gwynneville in the next round. New Zealand Breakers will play at home against Cairns Taipans and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
