Regular Season Round 18: AZS AWF K-ce - GKS Tychy 85-72

2Liga round 18 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader GKS Tychy (16-2) against fifth ranked AZS AWF K-ce (11-7) 85-72 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of GKS Tychy. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 24-7 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. AZS AWF K-ce dominated on the defensive end, holding GKS Tychy to just 7 points in third quarter. They also forced 20 GKS Tychy turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by GKS Tychy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Lukasz Szczypka (185-80) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 6 assists. Forward Kamil Nowak (197-88) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. point guard Radoslaw Basinski (188-78) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Tomasz Deja (200-83) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for GKS Tychy. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. GKS Tychy's coach Tomasz Jagielka rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. AZS AWF K-ce moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Pogon Prudnik. GKS Tychy at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Legia. GKS Tychy will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. AZS AWF K-ce will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Mickiewicz. It will be extra interesting game as Mickiewicz is their local rival from Katowice.
