Regular Season Round 35: Toyama Grouses - Iwate Big Bulls 77-85

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Toyama Grouses (22-9) against fourth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (21-8) on Saturday night. Host Toyama Grouses were defeated by Iwate Big Bulls in a tough game in Toyama 77-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-14. But Toyama Grouses won second period 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Iwate Big Bulls made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple, agency: Norton Sports Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American-Panamanian forward Leonardo Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) helped adding 15 points and 10 rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Dai Oketani allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: Norton Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import swingman Josh Gross (201-83, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Norton Sports Management) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Iwate Big Bulls moved-up to third place, which they share with Shinshu BW. Toyama Grouses at the other side keep the second position with nine games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyama Grouses will play again at home against Iwate Big Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
