Regular Season Round 27: McMaster - Windsor 51-80
Date: February 8, 2014
No shocking result in a game in Hamilton where first ranked Lancers (18-2) outleveled 5th ranked McMaster (11-8) 80-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lancers. McMaster was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding McMaster to just 6 points in first quarter. Lancers made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 McMaster turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. Lancers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for international point guard Miah-Marie Langlois (173-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. French forward Jessica Clemencon (190-89) helped adding 24 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Hailey Milligan (190-89, college: Canisius) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Danielle Boiago (170) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Lancers have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-2 record, which they share with Alberta and Regina. Loser McMaster keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Lancers will face Waterloo (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. McMaster will play against the league's second-placed Laurier and hope to win that game.
