Regular Season Round 19: Gimle BBK - Tromso 69-66

The most exciting game of round 19 in the BLNO took place in Bergen. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Tromso (10-5) to first ranked Gimle BBK (12-2) 69-66 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tromso. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 31-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gimle BBK made 9 blocks. The former international guard Audun Eskeland (175-85) fired 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American center Evan Matteson (211-90, college: Texas A&M Int.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks. Gimle BBK's coach Brent Hackman used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Gary Wallace (187-88, college: Robert Morris) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Mike St.John (203-84, college: La Salle, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Gimle BBK have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-2 record. Tromso at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Ammerud Bskt. Gimle BBK are looking forward to face Sverresborg (#7) in Trondheim in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tromso will play at home against Centrum (#8) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
