Regular Season Round 36: Shinshu BW - Akita NH 105-102

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Akita Happinets (29-5) in Nagano on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Shinshu BW (22-8) 105-102. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Akita Happinets. Shinshu BW made 32-of-39 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Akita Happinets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) who added 26 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was swingman Richard Roby (198-85) with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds and forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds. Five Shinshu BW and four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW moved-up to third place. Akita Happinets at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. Shinshu BW are looking forward to face Niigata Albirex (#5) on the road in the next round. Akita Happinets will play against the league's second-placed Toyama Grouses (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
