The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Saitama Broncos' (3-29) home loss to tenth ranked Shimane Magic (7-25) 77-88 on Sunday. Saitama Broncos were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 29-10 charge of Shimane Magic, which allowed them to win the game. Shimane Magic outrebounded Saitama Broncos 39-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Saitama Broncos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Kouki Yamabuchi (183-84) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 assists and American power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans) who added 16 points and 18 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St.) with 23 points and forward Reina Itakura (194-81) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shimane Magic maintains tenth position with 7-25 record. Loser Saitama Broncos keep the eleventh place with 29 games lost. Shimane Magic will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play on the road against Iwate Big Bulls (#4) and hope to win that game.
