Everything could happen in S'Arenal at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Tenerife and 8th ranked IF Air Europa had identical 4-8 record. But IF Air Europa was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Tenerife 62-58 on Sunday night. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-9. But IF Air Europa won third quarter 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. IF Air Europa was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international center Eva Montesdeoca (194-81) stepped up and scored 9 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and Lithuanian guard Vitalija Vasciunaite (175-88, college: Cal.Baptist, agency: Promotex) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Maria Alzamora responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Alejandra Quirante (165-92) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Tenerife (5-8) moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Dist.Olimpico. IF Air Europa lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Tenerife will face league's second-placed Alcobendas at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. IF Air Europa will play against Barca CBS (#12) in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
