Regular Season Round 20: Den Bosch - Leiden 80-68

Date: February 9, 2014
There was no surprise when 6th ranked Leiden (13-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked Den Bosch (18-5) 80-68 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Den Bosch. Leiden managed to win fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-24 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game, while Leiden only scored eight points from the stripe. Den Bosch forced 21 Leiden turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tai Wesley (200-86, college: Utah St.) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import guard David Gonzalvez (193-87, college: Richmond) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The former international point guard Sean Cunningham (188-86, college: Cal-Riverside, agency: R.H.Consultancy) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and international forward Mohamed Kherrazi (200-90, agency: R.H.Consultancy) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. Den Bosch have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-5 record having just three points less than leader Groningen. Defending champion Leiden keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Den Bosch will meet Zwolle (#4) on the road in the next round. Leiden will play against Rotterdam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
