Regular Season Round 36: Hamamatsu P. - Oita H.Devils 77-66

Not a big story in a game in Mikawa where 5th ranked Oita Heat Devils (14-18) were defeated by third ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (21-11) 77-66 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-66. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 assists and guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) who added 11 points during the contest. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Tomoya Higashino allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Gabriel McCulley (200-89, college: UTEP) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Hamamatsu Phoenix have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Oita Heat Devils lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 18 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will face Takamatsu FA (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Oita Heat Devils will play against Yokohama BC and hope to win that game.
