Regular Season Round 36: Fukuoka Rizing - Kyoto Hannar. 61-59

Date: February 9, 2014
Important game to mention about took place in Fukuoka. Seventh ranked Fukuoka Rizing (14-18) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-best Kyoto Hannar. (21-13) 61-59 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kyoto Hannar.. Kyoto Hannar. was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 19-11 charge of Fukuoka Rizing, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and point guard Akitomo Takeno (173-85) supported him with 13 points and 4 assists. Even 21 points by Puerto Rican-American swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) did not help to save the game for Kyoto Hannar.. American center Joe Werner (201-84, college: Wisc.-La Crosse) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fukuoka Rizing moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Oita H.Devils. Kyoto Hannar. at the other side dropped to the third position with 13 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will play against Bambitious Nara (#9) in the next round. Kyoto Hannar. will play against the league's leader Okinawa GK (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
