Regular Season Round 21: Telge - Northland 59-60

Fifth-ranked Telge (8-7) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Northland (13-2) on Sunday. The visitors from Lulea managed to secure only one-point victory 60-59. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Telge. Telge was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-19 charge of Northland, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Telge turnovers. It was a good game for American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) who saved her team from a defeat with 14 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Josefin Olheim (176-86) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Adrienne Webb (175-90, college: LSU) added 16 points in the effort for Telge. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Northland maintains second place with 13-2 record having 3 victories less than leader Norrkoping. Telge at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Northland will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Telge will play on the road against Visby Ladies (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
