Regular Season Round 22: Keflavik - Haukar 60-61

The most exciting game of round 22 in the Dominos League took place in Keflavik. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Keflavik (13-9) to second ranked Haukar (15-7) 61-60 in the game for the second place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Keflavik won fourth quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar forced 19 Keflavik turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (made all of her eleven free throws !!!). Guard Margret Halfdanardottir (173-94) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Haukar's coach Bjarni Magnusson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Diamber Johnson (170-90, college: Mississippi St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Bryndis Gudmundsdottir (178-88) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Keflavik. Haukar maintains second position with 15-7 record having four points less than leader Snaefell. Keflavik lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the third place with nine games lost. Haukar are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Njardvik (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Keflavik will play against Grindavik (#7) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
