Regular Season Round 29: St.Mary's - Acadia 101-106

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-ranked Huskies' (10-7) home loss to first ranked Axemen (13-3) 101-106 on Monday. Huskies were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 30-23 charge of Axemen, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 23 Huskies turnovers. Huskies were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Owen Klassen (208-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Kyle Arseneault (196) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Axemen players scored in double figures. Axemen's coach Stephen Baur allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Theeon Reefer (198) responded with 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and guard Boyd Vassell (178) scored 35 points (!!!) and 4 assists. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Axemen. They maintain first place with 13-3 record. Loser Huskies keep the second position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
