Regular Season Round 23: Sozh Gomel - Impuls BGUIR 92-64

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Impuls BGUIR (8-15) was crushed on the road by third ranked Sozh Gomel (16-6) 92-64. The game without a history. Sozh Gomel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Sozh Gomel forced 23 Impuls BGUIR turnovers. International guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Siarhei Charykau (185-82, college: Yakima Valley CC) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Sozh Gomel players scored in double figures. Sozh Gomel's coach Aleksander Poderachev felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Henadziy Zahar (198-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Yaraslau Kurapau (200-91) added 20 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Impuls BGUIR. Sozh Gomel maintains third place with 16-6 record having eight points less than leader Grodno-93. Impuls BGUIR lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 15 games lost. Sozh Gomel will play against league's second-placed Svisloch in Osipovichi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Impuls BGUIR will play at home against Prinemanye and hopes to get back on the winning track.
