Regular Season Round 18: Ramat Hasharon - Hapoel Afula 82-83

A very close game took place in Ramat Hasharon between Hapoel Afula and Ramat Hasharon. Third ranked Hapoel Afula (12-6) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Ramat Hasharon (10-8). Hapoel Afula managed to escape with a 1-point win 83-82 on Tuesday evening. Ramat Hasharon was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great shooting night for Hapoel Afula especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Roburt Sallie (196-86, college: Memphis, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Kenny Lawson (206-88, college: Creighton) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds and naturalized British guard Dan Bank (188-84) added 11 points, 10 assists and 5 steals respectively. Four Ramat Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Afula maintains third position with 12-6 record having just two points less than leader Hapoel Kazrin. Newly promoted Ramat Hasharon keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Hapoel Afula will meet at home Elitzur Ramla (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Ramat Hasharon will play against the league's leader Hapoel Kazrin (#1) and hope to secure a win.
