Regular Season Round 4: Amchit - Hoops 99-58

Bottom-ranked Hoops Club (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to third ranked Amchit (3-1) 99-58 on Wednesday evening. The game without a history. Amchit led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hoops Club's 40. They outrebounded Hoops Club 48-16 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Amchit looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Amchit made 7 blocks. American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St.) fired 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Nadim Hawe (205-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Amchit players scored in double figures. American point guard Ashton Gibbs (188-90, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Interperformances) produced 22 points and the former international power forward Hussein Tawbeh (198-82) added 4 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amchit have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sagesse and Byblos. Loser Hoops Club still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Bejjeh. Amchit will meet Al Moutahed (#5) in the next round. Hoops Club will play against Champville (#7) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
