Regular Season Round 32: Guangdong ST - Guangsha L. 104-95

Leader Guandong Tigers delivered the twentieth ninth victory on Wednesday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (20-12) 104-95 in Dongguan. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 28-18 charge of Guandong Tigers, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and international Jianlian Yi (212-87) who added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 4 assists and his fellow American import center Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers (29-3) have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Loser Zhejiang Guangsha Lions keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet Sichuan BW (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play against DongGuan Leopards (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
