The game with biggest result difference took place in Taiyuan. Local Shanxi Zhongyu (9-23) outscored 14th ranked Jilin Tigers (11-21) 124-102. The game without a history. Shanxi Zhongyu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Jilin Tigers' 62 and made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Shanxi Zhongyu forced 22 Jilin Tigers turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 31 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import swingman Marcus Williams (200-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Even 29 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) by American forward Leon Rodgers (201-80, college: N.Illinois) did not help to save the game for Jilin Tigers. Jordanian guard Osama Daghles (198-79, college: Midwestern St.) added 19 points and 6 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shanxi Zhongyu maintains sixteenth position with 9-23 record. Jilin Tigers at the other side keep the fourteenth place with 21 games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu's next round opponent will be higher ranked Shandong Bulls (#9) in Jinan and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
