Regular Season Round 25: Mogi das Cruzes - Paulistano 66-79

There was no surprise in Mogi das Cruzes where 11th ranked Mogi (9-14) was defeated by fourth ranked Paulistano (15-7) 79-66 on Thursday. Paulistano made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Mogi turnovers. American guard Desmond Holloway (190-90, college: Co.Carolina) stepped up and scored 28 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and Pilar Alves (200-84) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side center Daniel Castellar (202-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Gustavinho Lima (178-85) scored 7 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paulistano moved-up to third place, which they share with Limeira. Mogi lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Paulistano will meet SKY/Basquete (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mogi will play against Liga Sorocaba (#15) and hope to secure a win.
