There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Tadamon (2-2) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Al Moutahed (2-2) 86-73 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 49-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Al Moutahed outrebounded Tadamon 42-31 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Moutahed made 8 blocks. American center Hassan Whiteside (213-89, college: Marshall) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points, 21 rebounds and 8 blocks for the winners.
