No shocking result in a game when third ranked Winner/Limeira (15-7) defeated at home 6th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (13-8) 81-73 on Thursday. Sao Jose/Vinac trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 16-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-81 at the end of the game. Winner/Limeira forced 26 Sao Jose/Vinac turnovers. American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 14 points for the winners and the former international Renato Pinto (202-78) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American-Dominican point guard Emmanuel Quezada (188-85, college: USF) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and the former international Jefferson Andrade (207-83) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Five Winner/Limeira and four Sao Jose/Vinac players scored in double figures. Winner/Limeira maintains third place with 15-7 record having seven points less than leader Flamengo, which they share with Paulistano. Loser Sao Jose/Vinac keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Winner/Limeira will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sao Jose/Vinac will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#9) and hope to secure a win.
