Eighth-ranked Manitoba (5-16) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Wesmen (11-10) in Winnipeg on Thursday. Wesmen managed to secure only three-point victory 69-66. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 23-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Megan Noonan (170) fired 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Stephanie Kleysen (178) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Wesmen players scored in double figures. Forward Allison Balasko (180) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds and guard Stephanie Gill (170) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Wesmen maintains fifth position with 11-10 record. Manitoba lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 16 games lost. Wesmen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Winnipeg Manitoba.
