Regular Season Round 29: TWU - UFV 54-78
Date: February 13, 2014
Rather predictable result when first ranked Cascades (17-4) rolled over 5th ranked TWU (5-16) in Langley 78-54 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Cascades. TWU was better in fourth quarter 13-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Cascades forced 24 TWU turnovers. Point guard Aieisha Luyken (173) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Forward Sarah Wierks (188) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Janelle Traber (175) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Laurissa Weigl (175) added 8 points in the effort for TWU. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cascades. They maintain first place with 17-4 record, which they share with Saskatchewan. Loser TWU keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. Cascades will have a break next round. TWU will play again on the road against the league's leader Cascades (#1) in Abbotsford and hope to win that game.
