Fourth-ranked Sundsvall Dragons (15-13) gave a tough game to first ranked Sodertalje Kings (25-3) on Friday. The visitors from Sodertalje managed to secure only four-point victory 94-90. However their fans expected easier game. Sundsvall Dragons were trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 21-19 charge of Sodertalje Kings, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 19-15. Sodertalje Kings dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Sundsvall Dragons' 32. It was a great evening for American point guard John Roberson (180-88, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Lithuanian forward Mantas Griskenas (200-85, college: Wichita St.) helped adding 15 points and 15 rebounds. Icelandic forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) responded with 31 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Icelandic point guard Aegir Steinarsson (185-91, college: Newberry, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 17 points. Four Sodertalje Kings and five Sundsvall Dragons players scored in double figures. Sodertalje Kings have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-3 record. Sundsvall Dragons at the other side keep the fourth position with 13 games lost. Sodertalje Kings will face Solna Vikings (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sundsvall Dragons will play against Nassjo and hope to win that game.
