Regular Season Round 33: Sichuan BW - Guangdong ST 98-102

CBA top team - Guandong Tigers (30-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat twelfth ranked Sichuan BW (14-19) 102-98. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 37-23. But Sichuan BW won third quarter 25-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winners and international FangYu Zhu (201-83) chipped in 23 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge) with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Sichuan BW's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 30-3 record. Newly promoted Sichuan BW keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Guandong Tigers will play against DongGuan Leopards (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sichuan BW will play against Fujian (#10) in Jinjiang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
