Regular Season Round 18: Caceres - Fuenlabrada 74-57

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Fuenlabrada (12-5) on the court of seventh ranked Caceres Basket on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Caceres Basket 74-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fuenlabrada. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Caceres Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Fuenlabrada's 18 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Fuenlabrada helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Miguel Montanana (206-80) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Jose Antonio Marco (179-89) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Ruben Martinez (196-85) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Sergio Perez (205-79) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caceres Basket (10-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Prat and Avila. Newly promoted Fuenlabrada still keeps top position with five games lost. Caceres Basket is looking forward to face higher ranked CB Guadalajara (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Fuenlabrada will play against Askatuak and is hoping to win this game.
