Regular Season Round 4: Sagesse - Al Riyadi 71-77

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Sagesse (3-1) in Beirut on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Al Riyadi (4-0) 77-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sagesse. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 3-0 record before this meeting. Sagesse was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-14 charge of Al Riyadi, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international center Loren Woods (218-78, college: Arizona) who added 14 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. At the losing side American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Elie Roustom (197-87) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Al Riyadi and four Sagesse players scored in double figures. Al Riyadi have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 4-0 record. Sagesse at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Byblos and Amchit. Al Riyadi are looking forward to face Tadamon (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Sagesse's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Homenetm. B.
