No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Thor Thorl (9-8) beat bottom-ranked Valur (1-16) in Thorlakshofn 91-84 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 54-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Thor Thorl forced 24 Valur turnovers. The former international center Ragnar Nathanaelsson (218-91) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks for the winning side and forward Tomas Tomasson (193-91, college: Newberry) accounted for 28 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and center Birgir Petursson (205-86) added 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Valur in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Thor Thorl moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Haukar. Valur lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Thor Thorl will meet Skallagrimur (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Valur will play against Snaefell and hope to win that game.
