Regular Season Round 30: Lille - Souffel 85-79

There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Lille Metropole (9-22) defeated at home higher ranked Souffelweyersheim (14-17) 85-79 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Souffelweyersheim won third quarter 15-5. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lille Metropole made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Souffelweyersheim was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Aurelien Rigaux (176-88) scored 15 points and 8 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Kevin Bichard (195-86) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Five Lille Metropole players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Drake Reed (196-87, college: Austin Peay St., agency: KMG Sports Management) with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and naturalized Chadian forward Jacques Alingue (203-88) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Souffelweyersheim's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Lille Metropole went down to eighteenth position due to points difference. Newly promoted Souffelweyersheim keeps the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
