Regular Season Round 29: Saskatchewan - Alberta 82-75

Date: February 14, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-ranked Pandas (18-3) lost to third ranked Huskies (17-4) in Saskatoon 75-82 on Friday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pandas won third quarter 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Huskies made 11 blocks. Pandas were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Dalyce Emmerson (191-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 9 blocks. Guard Kabree Howard (165) contributed with 13 points and 8 assists for the winners. Huskies' coach Lisa Thomaidis used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Andria Carlyon (191) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and forward Kendra Asleson (183-91) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Pandas. Huskies keep a position of league leader, which they share with UFV. Loser Pandas keep the second place with three games lost. Huskies will face again league's second-placed Pandas in Edmonton in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
