Regular Season Round 29: Manitoba - Winnipeg 72-87

Date: February 14, 2014
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Winnipeg: Wesmen (#5) and Manitoba (#8). Manitoba was defeated at home 72-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Wesmen. Manitoba was better in third quarter 28-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wesmen players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Stephanie Kleysen (178) who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Megan Noonan (170) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists. German guard Christiane Fischer (168-90) produced 7 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Sheree Carmona-Galdamez (165) added 9 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wesmen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 12-10 record. Manitoba lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
