Regular Season Round 29: Laurentian - Ottawa 49-63

Date: February 14, 2014
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Ottawa (14-7) beat 7th ranked Voyageurs (4-17) in Greater Sudbury 63-49 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 63-49. Ottawa forced 26 Voyageurs turnovers. Guard Stephanie Macdonald (178-90, college: Canisius) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Julia Soriano (155) contributed with 11 points and 6 steals for the winners. Five Ottawa players scored in double figures. Forward Emma Decloe (185) answered with 14 points and point guard Danielle Harris (165) added 12 points in the effort for Voyageurs. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ottawa maintains second place with 14-7 record having just -1 point less than leader UFV, which they share with Queen's. Voyageurs lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Ottawa will face Thunderbirds (#8) in Sault Ste. Marie, ON in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Voyageurs will play on the road against the league's leader Carleton in Ottawa and hope to win that game.
