Regular Season Round 29: Guelph - Lakehead 74-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Thunderwolves' (11-10) road victory over 7th ranked Guelph (7-14) 87-74 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Thunderwolves. Guelph was better in fourth quarter 35-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thunderwolves looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Guelph was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jylisa Williams (173-89, college: Georgia St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard Katie Ulakovic (170-92) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Thunderwolves' coach Jon Kreiner used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Forward Erin Tilley (178) answered with 23 points and point guard Marlee Freeman (168) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Guelph. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Thunderwolves moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toronto Univ. Loser Guelph keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Guelph will play again on the road against Thunderwolves (#6) in Thunder Bay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
