Very expected game when 10th ranked Weert (1-23) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Leiden (15-10) 81-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. Leiden led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Weert's 24. They outrebounded Weert 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. International power forward Josh Duinker (210-89, college: Richmond) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and American guard DeJuan Wright (190-88, college: FIU, agency: Court Side) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. Forward Stefan Mulder (189-91) came up with 13 points and the former international center Kenneth van Kempen (207-87, college: Ohio, agency: Court Side) added 6 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Weert in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains sixth place with 15-10 record. Weert lost their fourth game in a row. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Leiden will meet higher ranked M.Magixx (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Weert will play against Rotterdam (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
