There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Jopisa Burgos (9-8) won against on the road 4th placed Socinsa Bembibre (9-8) 65-59 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 15-10. But Socinsa Bembibre won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Jopisa Burgos won last quarter 16-12. Guard Berta Chumillas (173-90) nailed 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and center Georgina Bahi (190-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Jopisa Burgos players scored in double figures. point guard Anna Gomez (179-86, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Rita Montenegro (188-82) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Socinsa Bembibre in the defeat. Jopisa Burgos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bembibre and Uni Girona. Jopisa Burgos will meet at home Mann Filter (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Socinsa Bembibre will play against Pais Vasco (#7) in San Sebastian and hope to secure a win.
