Rather predictable result in Barcelona where tenth ranked IF Air Europa (5-9) beat 12th ranked Barca CBS (2-12) 75-68 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Barca CBS won second period 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. IF Air Europa forced 28 Barca CBS turnovers. Barca CBS was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Alejandra Quirante (165-92) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Ieasia Walker (173, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Marta Montoliu (182-94) produced 24 points and Gala Mestres added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. IF Air Europa moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Tenerife and Dist.Olimpico. Barca CBS lost third consecutive game. Barca CBS at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with 12 games lost. IF Air Europa will face Dist.Olimpico (#7) in Madrid in the next round.
