Very predictable result when third ranked Alba Chorzow (14-5) defeated at home 10th ranked AZS Pol.Cz-wa (4-15) 78-72 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-11. But AZS Pol.Cz-wa won second period 25-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for power forward Marcin Weselak (202-79) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Lukasz Wojcik (188-84) helped adding 20 points. Alba Chorzow's coach Rafal Sobecki used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side forward Michal Saran (195-80) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and forward Marcin Bluma (201-89) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four AZS Pol.Cz-wa players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Alba Chorzow. They maintain third place in Group B with 14-5 record having just one point less than leader SKK Siedlce. Newly promoted AZS Pol.Cz-wa keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Alba Chorzow will face AZS AWF K-ce (#4) in Katowice in the next round. AZS Pol.Cz-wa will play at home against Nysa Klodzko (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
