Not a big story in a game in Warszawa where 8th ranked Polonia W-wa (7-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Kalisz (13-6) 85-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kalisz. Polonia W-wa was better in third quarter 21-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kalisz dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Polonia W-wa's 30. Kalisz forced 24 Polonia W-wa turnovers and outrebounded them 42-22 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Polonia W-wa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Kamil Sieranski (195-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Center Przemyslaw Galewski (199-91) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side guard Marek Popiolek (191-89, agency: Promotex) responded with 22 points and forward Jakub Pawlak (198-93) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Kalisz and four Polonia W-wa players scored in double figures. Polonia W-wa's coach gave the chance to play for eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kalisz. Newly promoted Kalisz maintains fourth place in Group A with 13-6 record. Polonia W-wa lost their fifth game in a row. Polonia W-wa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Kalisz will face GTK Gdynia (#7) at home in the next round. Polonia W-wa will play against Basket Pila and hope to win that game.
