Seventh-ranked Slask Wroclaw (8-10) gave a tough game to first ranked Stelmet ZG (15-2) in Zielona Gora on Saturday. Stelmet ZG managed to secure only twelve-point victory 81-69. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 23-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-3. Stelmet ZG outrebounded Slask Wroclaw 43-31 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) scored 7 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Przemyslaw Zamojski (193-86, college: Independence CC, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import center Paul Miller (208-82, college: Wichita St.) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Stelmet ZG have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-2 record. Slask Wroclaw lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Stelmet ZG will face Stabill Jezioro (#10) in Tarnobrzeg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Slask Wroclaw will play on the road against Asseco in Gdynia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
