Rather expected game when 12th ranked Zamarat (4-13) lost to ninth ranked Pais Vasco (8-9) in Zamora 62-69 on Saturday. Zamarat trailed by 17 points at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 27-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 62-69 at the end of the game. Point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) accounted for 18 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Pais Vasco's coach Aranzazu Muguruza used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Ana Suarez (170-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with 18 points and American swingman Shameka Christon (186-82, college: Arkansas, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Zamarat in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pais Vasco. They moved-up to seventh place. Zamarat at the other side stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. They share it with Ibaizabal. Pais Vasco will meet at home higher ranked Socinsa Bembibre (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zamarat will play against Ibaizabal (#11) in Galdakao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
