Regular Season Round 22: Pontoise - Angers BC 71-73

Fifteenth-ranked Pontoise (6-16) made lots of trouble for second ranked Angers BC (18-4) in Cergy on Saturday. The visitors from Angers managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pontoise won third quarter 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Angers BC looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Pontoise's players. American forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Erwan Andre (200-89) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Angers BC players scored in double figures. Angers BC's coach Vincent Lavandier used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Mourad El-Khir (202-88) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Alexandre Mendy (190-90) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Angers BC maintains second position with 18-4 record behind leader Monaco. Pontoise lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Saint-Brieuc. Angers BC are looking forward to face JA Vichy (#5) on the road in the next round. Pontoise will play against CFBB (#18) in Paris and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
